BOARD COMMITTEES OPEN TO THE MEMBERSHIP
2009 Conference to be held in Dallas
- (Melanie Grimes, Doug Skierski and Mike Kopp) -
Responsibilities: To plan and make all arrangements for the TAM Annual
Conference.
2010 Conference to be held in Austin - (Toylaine Spencer and Tracy Watson) - Responsibilities: To plan and make all arrangements for the TAM Annual Conference.
Marketing Mediation to the Public - (Open)
- Responsibilities: To develop short and long-term objectives for TAM’s efforts to increase the use of mediation by the public and to implement pilot projects and other efforts consistent with the objectives. One project under construction is a TAM brochure.
Membership - (Cris Gilbert & Suzanne Duvall)
- Responsibilities: To communicate with members, to process membership
applications and suggest ways to continue to improve
the benefits TAM has to offer to its members, thereby
encouraging the TAM membership to grow.
Case Book/Form Book - (Doug Skierski and Austin O'Toole) - Responsibilities: To update the materials for an electronic database containing cases
relevant to mediation and forms used by mediators which will be offered as a member benefit.
Newsletter/Editorial Board - (Jan Berger, Editor,
Josefina Rendon, Z. Lewis, & Meg Walker) - Responsibilities: To manage
the publication of a high-quality quarterly newsletter
with a variety of topics which will be of interest
to TAM members and to develop editorial policy for
the newsletter.
Bilingual Mediation Issues - (Clara Gomez &
David Garza) - Responsibilities: To increase the use of mediation within
the rapidly growing Hispanic population in Texas.
In 2002-3, this committee collected information from
all the DRCs in Texas about bilingual mediations and
developed a bilingual brochure that explains mediation
in English and Spanish.
Legislation - (Tracy Watson) - Responsibilities: To monitor legislation related to mediation and to represent the TAM Board’s position on legislation

Ethics and Standards - (Meg Walker and 2008-2009 TAM Board members) - Responsibilities: To update the Standards of Practice as appropriate.
Strategic Planning - (Meg Walker and TAM Board Members) - Responsibilities: To develop manuals for President and President-Elect and to develop Board Member job descriptions.
Website - (Jill Mckibben and TAM Board Members) - Responsibilities: To maintain the website, assuring current and accurate information. To improve the services provided to members by the website. To develop policy issues related to website content.
